Here is John Gilman’s review:
“The 2014 Helden Spätlese is really racy and classy in this vintage, and despite the wine being bottled the day before my visit, it was absolutely singing, with the vintage’s inherent elegance a great match for the depth of the Helden. The bouquet soars from the glass in a blaze of pear, lime, wild yeasts, a beautiful base of slate minerality, citrus zest and a ton of spring flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and zesty, with excellent focus and grip, superb purity and nascent complexity and a long, filigreed and laserlike finish. This will be hard not to drink immediately, but it really deserves at least a few years in the cellar to allow its secondary layers of complexity to unfold. 2018-2040. 93. ”
