The old vines here, most 80 years+, help to make this a reference point example of the nobility of Boudots, a site that is an under heralded personal favorite. It is the southern neighbor to Vosne RomanĂ©e 1er cru les Malconsorts, whose bottles cost $200+ these days, no matter the producer. I have always found it curious how little respect great Boudots wines get among Burgundy lovers, as the sense of depth of succulent fruit, mineral and savory complexity, and the overall sense of dazzling harmony found in great examples such as this are pure class in a glass by any name. This is a WOW wine, to my taste, that will very well exhibit just what I am talkin’ about. Respect to the Boudots!!
