From the northern Vosne side of Nuits, midslope at 280 meters, from three sections of vines aged 30, 50, and 80+ years on the limestone bedrock with silt and limestone gravel. Literally meaning “bumpy terrain” in Burgundian dialect, the balance of the young and old vines here give fantastic complexity. The old vines yield tiny millerande berries without seeds every year, with concentrated color and delicate aromas. This is a classic example of why I prize northern Nuits St Georges wines so much: the complexity and finesse so reminiscent of Vosne Romanee without the prestige surcharge, with a kiss of Nuits wild and muscle to boot……the ’13 was singin’ out of cask, with a treble brightness, silky texture, and depth of flavor that got ** and !!!.
