My tasting note: BOOM! Explodes coating the entire palate in black fruits only to then be driven by the classic implosive mineral core of signature Clos de Vougeot. This is smokin’ good no matter how you slice it. A little star here. For map readers, they are ideally located in la Plante l’Abbé and le Quartier de Marei Haut, “two doors over” from Hudelot Noëllat in each parcel. This is the real deal Clos de Vougeot…..
“(from a superbly situated 1 ha parcel high on the hill). Generous if not dominant wood and menthol scents fight somewhat with the ripe essence of plum, dark berries, game and earth. Here too there is excellent volume and plenty of power to the mouth coating and muscular flavors that are robust and quite serious but a bit less austere than usual. That said, note that this is very firmly structured and is clearly going to require a long stay in a cool cellar. (90-93)/2029+” Allan Meadows
“The 2014 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, which is completely destemmed, has a sweet, almost pastille-like bouquet with maraschino cherry, blueberry and violet notes, not unlike a Chambolle Amoureuses in some ways. I like the exuberance displayed here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple black fruit, the oak just a little dominating towards the finish although there is decent depth and persistence in place. Give it 4-5 years in bottle.” 91-93 Neil Martin
