2013 Thomas et Jean Marc Bouley Pommard 1er cru Rugiens

2013 Thomas et Jean Marc Bouley Pommard 1er cru Rugiens

Pommard 1er cru Rugiens $99 – From Rugiens Hauts, this is flat out incredible wine, an exhibit A for the argument that Rugiens should/could be a Grand cru.  In magically suave elegance allied to an implosive salivary stoniness, this is the real deal!!  Just 3 barrels made.
“100% destemmed. Directly on the rock and no earth. This is at the top of Rugiens. 15 cm to the mother rock. 3 barrels. Silky and pure on the attack. Elegant, straight and lucid. This wine is channelled and intense and has a gorgeous texture which lightly swathes the core in silk. A fine and straight, cool stone finish. This is wonderful. This has an ethereal quality and yet so intense and long. This is a stunning Rugiens. Score 18.85-19 Score 2023 ” -Sarah Marsh
“The 2013 Pommard 1er cru Rugiens was 100% destemmed in this vintage.  It has a perfumed, floral bouquet with expressive mineral scents (cold wet limestone) percolating through the aromatics that remain elegant rather than powerful.  The palate is medium-bodied with soft supple tannin and abundant raspberry and boysenberry fruit.  It gradually builds in the mouth and offers a peacock’s tail of peppery red and black fruit on the long finish that has plenty of finesse.  This comes recommended.” 91-93 points Neil Martin
