“Consists of Nebbiolo (85%) and Vespolina grapes. This wine requires full maturity and is treated in the barrel for 3 to 4 years, and can then be stored for decades. The mineral composition of the porphyritic soil together with the characteristic structures of the Nebbiolo grapes allow “Boca” to become a full, expressive wine. Its flavour reminds one of well matured forest fruit, violets, tobacco and dried herbs with hints of balsam and citrus fruit. Power and a silky elegance will develop in the mouth, fascinating and playful, with a slightly noble and bitter final note. The vast complexity allows one to discover new facets over and over again. Our Boca can refine in bottles for up to 10-20 years” -Christoph

“The 2013 Boca is powerful, dense and explosive – almost shockingly so. A wine of extraordinary purity and depth, the 2013 possesses stunning richness and notes of dark wild cherry, plum, mint and wild flowers, all wrapped inside a ball of huge tannins. The 2013 is a total knockout, but it won’t be released until next year and won’t be at its best for another few years beyond that or longer.” 95+
“Concerned about the cool conditions of the growing season (which saw a lot of rain throughout the spring and summer months), Christoph Künzli worried that he would be forced to skip over this vintage. Thankfully, the 2013 Boca was made, and it most certainly delivers the goods. The latter part of the growing season—and the most critical—saw sunshine and heat, leading to a late harvest with fruit ripening on the vines until October 23rd. This blend of Nebbiolo and Vespolina shows beautiful balance and delineation, with bright fruit and crisp freshness that will serve the wine well as it ages forward in time. This vintage also delivers a sound sense of inner power that pushes it elegantly over the palate.” 95+ Monica Larner
