“(from a large 1.5 ha holding). A somber but agreeably fresh nose grudgingly reveals notes of various dark berries, especially currant and black cherry, along with plenty of earth, underbrush and sauvage characters. There is excellent volume to the lush and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that displays the typical youthful austerity of a classic Guettes, all wrapped in a mineral-inflected, lingering and balanced finish. I very much like the depth and persistence though note that this will definitely require a few years of bottle age. 90/2020+” John Gilman
“The 2013 aux Guettes had also just been filtered and it too was quite cranky about being tasted. The nose was still quite unsettled, but the palate showed lovely promise in its full-bodied and energetic personality, with fine mineral drive, pure frit and ripe and well-integrated tannins. While the wine was in no shape for taking a precise note, I am sure this will be very strong. 2021-2050+. 90-92+.” John Gilman
