2013 Pavelot Beaune 1er Bressandes

2013 Pavelot Beaune 1er Bressandes

“(from leased vines). This too is exceptionally cool and fresh with its expressive array of red cherry, plum, earth and discreet notes of violet and lavender suffused aromas. Once again there is fine richness to the utterly delicious and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that possess a bit more complexity on the equally persistent and slightly austere finale where just a whisper of dryness appears. As the description suggests the balance isn’t spot on perfect but this is still very pretty – just don’t age it for more than a few years. 89/2018+” Allen Meadows

“The Beaune Bressandes had been recently filtered, but here the wine was recovered quite nicely and showed quite well. The bouquet is quite black fruity this year, wafting from the glass in a blend of black cherries, dark berries, gamebirds, a fine base of soil and a topnote of espresso. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely reserved out of the blocks, with a good core, lovely soil signature and very good backend energy on the long and moderately tannic finish. This has really turned out very well. 2020 2050. 90+.” John Gilman
