This is just the beginning of what I consider to be a treasure trove of Morey St Denis wines. I was high on the ’12 version (a few bottles left in stock…), and MAN is the ’12 good. This tasted like it was poised to replicate what has to be approaching superstar villages level quality. In sappiness, depth, and complexity, this is smokin’. I pushed harder to get a few cases more of this, maxed out at 4cs…..don’t say I didn’t tell ‘ya.
“(100% vendange entier; 15% new oak): Good full red. Ripe but shy aromas of small red berries and spices. On the palate, urgent raspberry, strawberry and brown spice flavors are sharpened by crushed stone and pepper elements. In a sappy, mineral-driven style, with savory finishing notes of brown spices, mocha and leather. Energetic and light on its feet. This fruit, from a cold, high, east/northeast-facing site, was picked at 11.7% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 12.5%” 88-90 points Tanzer
