From 5 parcels principally on the W/SW side of the clay and limestone hillside that is the Altenberg. Based on the pop and pour tasting at the winery, this is currently an embryonic wine, but its purity, terrific length, grip, and pure class was heard loud and clear. I would have loved to follow a bottle, say, over a few days, but…….Once again, this is as good as it gets, folks. Don’t say I didn’t tell ‘ya so.
“Bright straw. Perfumed aromas of nectarine, apple blossom, minerals and honey. Wonderfully vibrant and penetrating, offering complex flavors of pear, lime, honey and lemon custard freshened by a stony underpinning and very brisk acidity. Finishes extremely long and pure, with honeyed minerality and a hint of lemon zest. This is less opulent but more minerally than the Mambourg” 95 points Ian d’Agata
